Even though they’d already seen a realistic 360° view of the kitchen, the VR aspect allowed the client to note architectural issues that they wouldn’t have noticed until the build was underway. “Because the models are shared with the architects and main contractors, using VR allows the client to give feedback on the kitchen space in a wider sense, rather than just the placement of the equipment. They’d seen flat plan drawings as well as our 3D visuals, however this gave real insight into how the project would come about in the context of the actual space. Straight away the they were impressed by the realism and immersivity on show.

“We used the VR headset with a client for the first time on Monday (). We now visit sites prepared to drop attendees right into the kitchen, going one further than supplying 360° renders or 3D virtual tours to the client’s desktop!īusiness Development Director, Andy Brown, was instrumental in the development of our 3D kitchen design facility – from the initial adoption of Revit to the extended services we now offer. We’ve been testing out VR and its application within our design process for a number of weeks. The nomination comes in unison with our release of on-site virtual reality technology.

On top of this, it allowed us to continue our specialism in public sector work following the 2016 BIM public sector mandate. We’ve drastically improved the efficiency accuracy of our commercial design process via Revit. Revit’s provided a multitude of benefits to us, not least of which is the client-side services.
KITCHEN DESIGN 360 VIEW SOFTWARE
Having spotlighted Revit as a key innovator to the commercial design & build sector a number of years ago, we’ve placed the software high on our list of priorities in moving the business forward.

Specifically highlighted by Catering Insight is our ability to take clients on 3D tours of their virtual venues and the supply of 360° renders, all to allow clients a better insight into their future venue (compared to a flat-plan drawing). Stemming from the use of Revit in our 3D kitchen design facility, we’ve been exercising all tools at our disposal to build our client-side services and continually improve the quality of our design proposals. Our investments over recent years in 3D design have earned us a nomination at the upcoming Catering Insight Awards 2018.
