You can select all one coarseness, or both coarse and medium grits. We do have the option for both sides of the board to be covered and finished with an abrasive scratching surface. As always, keep your first sessions short to prevent your dog from accidentally quicking his nails. We generally recommend the coarse grit for large breed dogs. Medium grit is a great all-purpose coarseness, but you can use the coarse grit if your dog has large or extra hard nails. The scratch boards can be made with a coarse or medium grit surface. See our FAQ () for details on our abrasive surface guarantee. We guarantee our abrasive surface’s durability and that it will not, under normal use, wear out in under 6 months.

The abrasive surface is upgraded, professional sandpaper. ScratchPad® scratch boards are 10”x24” – big enough for large dogs, and still suitable for smaller breeds.
